Because of the overwhelming reception of the show during its first four weeks, ABS-CBN has moved Pinoy Mano Mano to a later time slot at 10:30 PM every Saturday. Now, more Filipinos can witness real and unscripted action as the show ushers in its exciting semi-final round. This Saturday, November 24th, two determined fighters will face off to see who deserves a spot in the championship bout.

Michael Roy Jornales never felt any remorse when he defeated his good friend, Biboy Ramirez. A product  of years of martial arts competitions, Michael dedicates his every fight to all the "small dudes" in the industry. But does he have what it takes to knock down Rico Robles? A known radio jock, Rico Robles has just proven that his fists are as fast as his mouth when he crushed fellow ex-PBB housemate Rico Barrera. Next week, Joem Bascon will once again step up to the ring to face yet another strong fighter, Jordan Herrera. The youngest of all celebrity boxers, Joem is still feeling the taste of victory when he defeated Eric Fructuouso last week, a fight which left Eric in a bad shape. Meanwhile, Jordan has waited a long time to meet his worthy challenger. The former Powerboy successfully knocked down pretty boy TJ Trinidad in the "buena mano" fight. Next Saturday, Jordan and Joem will square off to vie for a slot in the finals.

Whoever wins between Jordan and Joem will meet the winner between Michael Roy and Rico Robles in the much-awaited final fight. Watch Pinoy Mano Mano: The Celebrity Boxing Challenge every Saturday night at 10:30 PM as the show inches closer to the heart stopping championship match.

AFTER SURVIVING round one, former teen actor Erick Fructuoso called off his fight against up and coming actor, Joem Bascon, in last Saturday’s edition of ‘Pinoy Mano-Mano,’ the first celebrity boxing show featuring Filipino celebrities in film and television.

Fructuoso had complained of shoulder pains which could have resulted from a pulled muscle. Bascon was declared winner in the event, which qualified him to the league of winners eligible for PMM’s semi-final rounds.

Bascon, the Piolo Pascual semi-look-alike, will be up against other event winners as Jordan Herrera, Rico Robles, and Michael Roy Jornales.

Robles, a radio disc jockey and former ‘Pinoy Big Brother housemate,’ has picked Jornales to be his ultimate opponent. He said he was impressed by the struggling actor’s moves.

His choice left Jordan and Joem to slug it out in their own event.

Robles, a welter middleweight, has been boxing since he was 25. He observes that most of the actors playing in PMM just like to punch and punch. ‘In boxing, you use the mind to plan out a strategy of survival,’ he says.

‘Pinoy Mano Mano’ has gained wide viewership in its four weeks of airing that ABS-CBN management has upped its timeslot to 10:30 p.m. every Saturday. The show is hosted by Cesar Montano, with able assist from comedian co-host Bayani Agbayani.

 All eyes were on Joem Bascon, the Piolo Pascual-look-alike discovery ng ABS-CBN director Jerry Sineneng, sa pagpasok niya sa Skyline Restaurant sa 17th floor ng GMA-7 kagabi, November 13. Kasama niya ang kanyang handler na si Allan Real at ang kanyang personal assistant.

Joem, a Star Magic artist, is part of the Ignite Media/GMA Films movie Batanes.

Joseph Emmanuel Bascon was born with a silver spoon at puwedeng hindi mag-artista dahil sa yaman ng pamilya niya. May napakalaking lupang pagmamay-ari ang mga Bascon sa Antipolo that stretches to about two or three mountains, including the valleys and lowlands in between these mountains na pinagteypingan noon ng ABS-CBN soap opera na Hiram.

Doon siya nadiskubre ni Direk Jerry at dahil hilig niya namang mag-artista, pumayag si Joem. After more than a year of workshops, binigyan siya ng break sa last soap opera nina Claudine Barretto at Piolo, ang Walang Kapalit. Ironically, hindi ginawang magkapatid sina Joem at Piolo kahit deadringers sila sa isa't isa—something that also happened noon kina Angel Locsin at Glaiza de Castro na nang magsama sa Asian Treasures, kahit parang pinagbiyak na bunga, ay hindi pa rin ginawang magkapatid.

Nabigyan na rin ng small break si Joem sa pelikula. "Dumaan" daw siya sa episode nina John Lloyd Cruz and Bea Alonzo sa All About Your Love, but he considers Batanes his first movie and his biggest break so far.

Si Joem ang gumaganap na unang asawa ni Iza Calzado bago nito nakilala ang F4 member na si Ken Zhu, who was washed away in the island of Batanes from Taiwan after a great sea storm that also took the life of Joem's character.

Marami nang GMA-7 at ABS-CBN exclusive stars ang nagkakasama sa mga pelikula ng Regal Entertainment. But never pang nangyari na isang current Star Magic artist ang mapasama sa isang GMA Films movie. Si Joem pa lang ang nakakagawa nito. From the other side of the table, it's like saying na a GMA Artist Center star acts in a Star Cinema movie that has never happened.

"Flattered po ako siyempre," reaksiyon ni Joem. "Pero noong una, nagulat ako. Nagtanong pa ako sa handler ko kung siguradong ako ba ang ipinapatawag nila sa pelikula. Nabasa ko po ang script at malaki ang role. Bago pa lang ako, bakit naman ako bibigyan ng ganitong break at ng GMA Films pa?"

Inamin ni Joem na hindi siya ang first choice for the role, kundi si Victor Basa na isa ring Star Magic talent. Kaso, biglang pumasok sa Pinoy Big Brother house si Victor kaya ibinigay ang role kay Joem.

Tinanong ng PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) si Noel Ferrer, project manager of GMA Films, kung bakit sa isang Star Magic talent ibinigay ang papel ni Joem. He explained that sa hanay ng Artist Center talents, wala nang masyadong kaedad si Iza in looks so they searched on the other fence.

It was mentioned before—at naisulat namin ito sa PEP—that it was also offered to Mike Tan. Pero nang mag-test shoot sila, nagmukhang bata si Mike katabi si Iza, so he was given another role, that of Glaiza de Castro's husband.

Ang Ignite Media ang lumapit kay Joem for the role which he readily accepted. Alam niya raw na susosyo rito ang GMA Films later.

"May Iza [Calzado] sa lead role, nandiyan pa sina Mike [Tan], and Glaiza [de Castro]. So I have the feeling agad na may connection ang GMA Films dito," sabi ni Joem.

Pleasant experience ang pagtatrabaho ni Joem sa Batanes. Hindi niya inakala na sa isang katulad niyang Star Magic ay mapapasama sa isang GMA Films movie working with Artist Center stars.

 "Noong papasok pa lang po kami sa GMA compound—first time ko itong makapasok kaya kabado ako—nag-joke ako sa handler kung ililipat na ba nila ako sa GMA," natatawang kuwento ng young actor.
